The ACSC maintains its role working alongside regional partners on cyber capability and protections in its capacity leading Australia’s computer emergency response capability.
Established in 2003 in response to growing malicious cyber activity and digital disruption, APCERT is a coalition of international cyber security emergency response teams, and aims to create a safe, clean and reliable cyber space through cooperation, trust and genuine information sharing.
The group currently represents 21 economies from across the Asia-Pacific region, including fellow APCERT Steering Committee Members Malaysia (Deputy Chair), Japan (Secretariat), India, South Korea, China and Taiwan.
Alastair MacGibbon, Head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre, said the position enables Australia to continue to encourage close collaboration to raise cyber resilience across the region.
‘Working closely with our neighbours is a key part of Australia’s national and international cyber strategies, and in line with our goal for a connected and prosperous global economy,’ Mr MacGibbon said.
‘Our continued collaboration in upholding a collective vision, and constructing cyber resilience across our increasingly connected economies, is vital to achieving our regional cyber security goals,’ he stated.
