As one of five operational agencies within Department of Home Affairs, ACIC, Australia's national criminal intelligence agency, works with the state and territory, national and international partners on investigations and to collect intelligence to improve the national ability to respond to crime impacting Australia.

ACIC provide national criminal information and intelligence services to police officers and other accredited users on a daily basis to keep them, and the Australian community safe.

AFP and ACIC conduct investigations into the multi-layered cybercrime activity, as part of the Government’s joint-agency Serious Financial Crime Taskforce (SFCT).

ACIC works with Australian police agencies to deliver the National Police Checking Service (NPCS). The Service allows people to apply for a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, commonly called a police check.
