Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the cyber threat landscape, bringing both opportunities and risks.

When designed, governed and implemented securely, AI can strengthen cyber defence; used carelessly, it can amplify cyber risks and increase your organisation’s attack surface.

ASD’s ACSC has released a new publication – Opportunities for AI in cyber defence – to help organisations understand how and where to use AI securely in cyber defence operations.

The publication explains how organisations can use AI models to help strengthen their cyber security while managing the risks involved. It outlines how the cyber security landscape is evolving and describes how organisations can use AI in alignment with the Information security manual (ISM) cyber security functions. It also provides principles for securely adopting AI, along with key questions for cyber defenders to ask vendors to support secure use.
