Cyber security risks in remote working
Remote working and the use of mobile devices changes how and where people can access systems and data. Employees often use home networks, public Wi-Fi or personal devices, all of which are less secure than office environments. As employees work across different locations, sensitive information may be accessed or stored outside secure environments. Devices can be lost, stolen, or compromised, leading to potential data breaches. The use of personal devices adds further risk, as these devices may lack proper security controls like antivirus software, encryption, or regular updates. This can increase an organisation’s exposure to cyber threats, such as hacking, phishing and malware attacks.
